Rawson Memorial District Library is located in lovely, Cass City, MI

Statement of Purpose

We believe the library is a vital part of the community. Rawson Memorial District Library exists to help satisfy the informational and reading needs of the residents of Cass City and the surrounding communities. The staff is committed to making this library a practical and friendly source of help to its patrons.

We hope to do this by welcoming your suggestions for new materials and services; by taking the time to listen and to provide you with answers you can use; and by connecting you to other sources when the information or materials you need are not available at this library. Our goal is to provide library services to all age groups and to help patrons find the materials and information they need.

What We Offer

The library system holds approximately 34,000+ materials, including books, audiobooks, movies, eBooks and eAudiobooks.

Other Services

Home Delivery: Persons who are homebound because of temporary or permanent physical disability may have materials delivered by a member of the library staff free of charge. Please give us a call at 989-872-2856 if you would like to receive this service.

Interlibrary Loan:  Materials not found in our library collection may be interloaned from libraries throughout the state or even nationally.

Internet: Internet access is available on computers free of charge. The library also has wireless Internet available.

Computers: Word processing programs are installed on computers for patron use. World Book Encyclopedia and other reference materials may be accessed online. Two computers in the children's section may be used to play educational games and read stories.

Meeting Room: This room is available for public use for non-profit programs. Check with the library staff to reserve the day and time. Certain restrictions apply.

Study Rooms: Two study rooms are available for public use. Stop by the circulation desk to sign up to use the room for quiet or small group study.

Memorial Books: This is a great way to memorialize a loved one that has passed away or honor someone special. A memorial plaque is placed in each book selected. A list of all memorial books is kept in a notebook at the library.

Notary Public: Notary Public services are available for $1.00 per signature.

Copier: $0.15 per letter-size page for black and white; $0.60 per letter-size page for color. We also offer legal and ledger printing for slightly higher prices.

Fax Machine: $1.00 per page to receive. $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page to send.

Laminating: $1.00 per letter-size page.

    Book Reserves: For one week new books are placed on a reserve only status. Simply let us know you would like to read one of these books and your name will be added to the list. You will be called when the book is ready to circulate.

    Rawson Library Newsletter: The newsletter is a great way to follow all the events and programs that take place at the library. An insert from the Cass City Area Historical & Genealogy Society is always interesting. Let us know if you'd like to be on the mailing or email list and we'll do the rest. It is also available on this web site.

    Showcase: Check out the different displays each month in our showcase located in the lobby. Any ideas for the Showcase? Suggestions are always appreciated.

    Telephone & Online Renewals: Library materials may be renewed either by phone (call 989-872-2856 and have your library card ready) or via our website with your pin #.  (A pin # can be set up with any librarian anytime even over the phone.)

    The Copyright Law of 1976 (United States Code, Title 17) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction [including that made by electronic transmission of reserve material] for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
